FESI Working Committees

Overview

FSPA is an active member of FESI - the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry representing in Brussels the interests of the Sporting Goods Industry.

FESI was created in 1960 in Germany with the aim of addressing common interests within the European Sporting Industry manufacturers. In 1994, the four major National Federations - FSPA (UK), BSI (Germany), FIFAS (France) and ASSOSPORT (Italy) forced a fundamental review of the organisation, and the new FESI was born.

Primary Purposes

Continuously inform on enacted or intended European legislation

Lobby the European Parliament and Commission on matters affecting the Industry

Lobby International Federations at European level ie Federation International Football Associations (FIFA), International Rugby Board (IRB) etc

Increase participation in and the image of sport in Europe.

Member Feedback

"The FSPA, representing its BGIA golf association members, successfully lead lobbying action by co-ordinating Europe (FESI) and the World (WFSGI) Federation to vote down a proposed standard specifying safety requirements for the minimum strength of golf clubs. Via the Technical Committee, the UK, USA, France and Germany all voted there was no need for a standard in this area as it is already well covered by the USGA and R&A." Jane Montgomery, FSPA
